Dr. Cerean was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After earning a Bachelor's degree from Baylor University, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he completed his medic training as the Honor Graduate at Fort Sam Houston.
After serving for 4 years in the military, Dr. Cerean attended the Rosenberg School of Optometry at UIW where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2017. While at UIW he received extensive training in the diagnosis and management of visual disorders, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, and pediatric optometry.

He and his wife Ana have 5 daughters together. They like to spend lots of time outdoors and love going on ski trips. The Cerean family spends much of their free time playing tennis and soccer. Their children are also heavily involved in orchestra and band.
